Influences of Minimal electroshock, Picrotoxin, and ACTH on the Blood sugar and Plasma Corticosterone Levels of Mice

Abstract
|
|
|
In this paper, the influences of minimal electroshock (M.E.S.), picrotoxin, and ACTH on the blood sugar and plasma corticosterone levels of mice were investigated. The results obtained were summarized as follows;
1. The blood sugar level was increased by M.E.S., picrotoxin, and ACTH, respectively. The peak effects of them were appeared 30 minutes after their treatments, and the order of their hyperglycemic potencies was picrotoxin 4mg/kg>ACTH 5U/kg>M.E.S.
2. The plasma corticosterone level was increased by M.E.S., picrotoxin, and ACTH. The peak effects of ACTH and M.E.S. were appeared 30 minutes after their treatment, but the peak effect of picrotoxin was appeared 60 minutes after picrotoxin injection, and the order of those potencies was ACTH 5U/kg>picrotoxin 4mg/kg>M.E.S.
